Who We Are

The Public Performance and Management Group (PPM) is a part of the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University and an outreach unit of its Public Management and Policy Department.

Mission

Our mission is to energize the pursuit of performance in public organizations. We seek to do this by raising the level of dialog about performance improvement and by working directly with public organizations to improve performance and outcomes.

Beginning in 2006, the Georgia Governor’s Office of Customer Service initiated multiple contracts with PPM to develop and implement the Georgia Service Quality Index and the Georgia Workplace Satisfaction Index. These measures are now used throughout Georgia’s state government to gauge customer service and employee satisfaction, which in turn enables agencies to identify opportunities and implement improvements. These ongoing pulse-taking activities are cited as a successful results-based government management initiative throughout the United States.
